Small Batch Roasting
At GEC we roast on a roaster capable of producing about 2, 12oz. packages of coffee per batch. We carefully develop our processes to bring the best flavors out of each bean we offer.
The roasting process takes about 15 minutes beginning to end with each batch. As the bean roasts it goes through many changes in color, smell, moisture level and even a cracking sound a various times and temperatures of roasting.
Many factors contribute the the flavors in the end product. The largest are the bean roasted, the amount of coffee roasted, the variance of rate the coffee goes from room to drop temperature, the temperature it is dropped at, how quickly it is cooled, and on and on. With all those factors it is important to document and reproduce the results batch after batch.
